Summer Institutes

Two 4 week summer institutes will be offered — two in 2007 and two in 2008.

Summer 2007
Engineering-Mathematics June 4 – June 28, 2007
Chemistry-Mathematics July 9 – August 2, 2007
Summer 2008
Physics-Mathematics June 2 – June 26, 2008
Biology-Mathematics July 7 – July 31, 2008

High School Students

Each institute will accept 15 Doña Ana County high school students who have successfully completed mathematics through Algebra II and who are committed to attending the entire program. There are no tuition costs or fees for participation in the program, and participants will receive an Apple iPod. Minorities and females are especially encouraged to apply. Applications for the 2008 institutes must be received by April 30th and participants will be notified by May 8th.

High School Teachers

Each institute will accept 3 New Mexico secondary mathematics or science teachers who are committed to attending the entire program. Teachers will participate as both learners and experts. Teachers will receive a stipend of $4,500. One teacher must be from outside of Doña Ana County and will receive an additional $1,500 for room and board. Minorities and females are especially encouraged to apply. Applications for the 2008 institutes must be received by April 30th and participants will be notified by May 8th.
